May 2003 - Plant of the Month

Malus ‘Red Jade’
(Red Jade Flowering Crabapple)

Malus ‘Red Jade’

Type: Deciduous flowering tree
Height: 6-15’(weeping)
Hardiness: Zone 3-9
Light requirements: Full sun to part shade
Bloom Color: Bright red buds open to white flowers

One of the nicest of all flowering crabapple. With a weeping habit that can be trained into a multitude of different shapes and looks, it is a wonderful addition to any landscape site. Abundant, lightly fragrant white blooms in May are followed by ¼ red fruit in the fall and winter. Magnificent!!
