September 2004 - Plant of the Month

Rhus typhinaBailtiger
(Tiger Eyes Sumac)

Type: shrub
Height: 8-12’
Hardiness: Zone 3-9
Light requirements: Full Sun or part shade
Bloom Color:  dull greenish-yellow

Deeply dissected, yellow leaves that stay stunningly bright from May to October, when they turn a delightful orange-red. As a Sumac, it is VERY easy to grow, tolerating even the poorest of soils, but not invasive. A great accent plant.
