Brunswick Low-Bush Blueberry

NEWType: fruit
Height: 8-10”
Hardiness: Zone 3-8
Light requirements: Full sun to part shade
Bloom Color: white

Native to the Northeast U.S., the low-bush blueberry has great promise as an ornamental ground cover. Profuse white blooms yield small sized light blue fruit with the distinctive "wild" blueberry flavor. Fall foliage turns bright red and orange prior to leaf drop. Planting and cultural care should be the same as for high-bush blueberries. Annual pruning is not necessary but the plants yield best if 2/3 of the growth is sheared back every third year in late winter.

Brunswick
Originally from
Nova Scotia, this clone grows vigorously in a Willamette Valley trial plot. Brunswick forms a dense ground cover 8-12 inches high. The dark glossy leaves are a perfect backdrop to the sky blue pea sized fruit.
